The Property

The property is bordered by two streams.   Water was originally provided by a spring fed, hand dug well at the upper portion of the property.   When the property was subdivided, a new well was drilled to provide water to the house.   Water is still tapped from the old well for the big barn.   The property is surrounded by quintessential Connecticut field stone walls and is roughly divided into three distinct sections.    The first consists of the house, outbuildings and surrounding lawn and gardens; the second is an upper meadow with sweet and gray birches, eastern red cedars and oaks; and the third is shaded glen and wet lands with ferns, skunk cabbage, spice bush and woodland wildflowers.
